MIP Career BLAST
All MIP Students
career resources and
summer internship, job, fellowship announcements
Often I receive information that I think you would like to know. Items may have short lead-times. FSI faculty, staff, and Stanford stakeholders may request that I send them out. With recruiting picking up in Winter Quarter, I plan to include APSIA jobs, internships, and fellowship lists, and occasional excerpts from BEAM newsletters.
I would like to begin blasting these out. No doubt, they will add to your inbox clutter. If you would rather not receive these MIP Career Blasts, Opt-Out by emailing me (mljr@stanford.edu)

Communications Support for MIP Students
I know several of you are interested in improving your communication skills. I've been in touch with Matt Vassar.
Matt recommends ENGR 203: Public Speaking. Many MIP students in the past enjoyed and benefited from the course. It's 3 units and attendance at the first class is mandatory. He advises you to enroll on Axess ASAP. There are 13 sections to choose from (including an asynchronous section) to fit any student's availability. The first sections begin tomorrow--and the others will begin on Wednesday and Thursday.
BEAM RESOURCES
H&S Resume Clinic Friday 1/15, 10 am - 1 pm
Bring a draft of your resume, or a cover letter, and we’ll go over it together. After registering for the event, you’ll receive a confirmation message. Use that message to sign up for a 15 minute time slot with a career coach.
A NETWORKING RESOURCE JUST FOR STANFORD If you want to connect with Stanford alumni, then you are in luck! We have a great method to use. First, go to the LinkedIn Alumni Tool, and search for alumni who are of interest to you. Second, search by company name, major, industry, location, keyword, and more. After you have some names of people to contact, go to the Alumni Association website and click "Find an Alum" at the top of the homepage. Finally, login to the directory and search for the names and find email addresses for your contacts. It's that simple!
For more tips, and sample email templates, check out How to Connect with Stanford Alumni.
